چکیده
Climate change leads to deep modifications of high Alpine environments. Those have significant consequences on mountaineering itineraries and make them technically more difficult dangerous. Although a growing number studies recently documented this issue, they only list the processes affecting do not document their characteristics. Therefore, acquired data lack relevance be spread for prevention making among climbers. In present study, basis identified in previous Mont Blanc massif, we developed legend order map related climate that affect modify climbing parameters. Following UNIL geomorphological using same color code, 21 symbols were defined 23 processes. evaluate applicability interest proposed, first application Valais Alps (Switzerland), based semi-structured interviews with local guides hut keepers. The then allowed each 36 studied. On average, an itinerary is affected by 9 different 25% greatly evolved, which means ascent summer cannot recommended anymore because change. More generally, would provide common methodological basis, destined completed within future relevant beyond European Alps. This also ease comparability compilation results from studies.

Tree-Ring Reconstruction of Debris-Flow Events Leading to Overbank Sedimentation on the Illgraben Cone (Valais Alps, Switzerland)
Dendrogeomorphological analyses of trees affected by debris flows have regularly been used to date past events. However, while previous studies in the Swiss Alps have focused primarily on granitic and gneissic debris-flow material and on Larix decidua Mill. and Picea abies (L.) Karst. trees, they have – at the same time – widely disregarded torrents dominated by finely fractured calcareous and ...

Alpine landscapes have evolved rapidly over the last two centuries. River embankments and urbanization have aff ected most of the large alluvial plains, agriculture has radically changed and its relative landscapes also. Forests are gaining space in most of the Alpine countries and tourism has modifi ed landscapes in several areas, both in alpine forelands and high valleys. In Switzerland, the ...
متن کاملSpatial Dynamic Modelling of Future Scenarios of Land Use Change in Vaud and Valais, Western Switzerland
We use Bayesian methods with a weights of evidence approach to model the probability of land use change over the Western part of Switzerland. This first model is followed by a cellular automata model for spatial allocation of land use classes. Our results extend and enhance current land use scenarios studies by applying Dinamica Environment for Geoprocessing Objects (Dinamica EG) to a study are...
متن کاملMapping the climate change challenge
The recent negotiations on climate change in Paris have left partly open the discussion on a long-term global goal, in the form of an upper limit to warming. Agreement on such a limit is a political decision that need to be informed by scientific knowledge through a mapping that systematically explores the consequences of different policy choices. Such a multi-disciplinary effort, based on the ...
متن کاملClimate change and tourism in the alpine regions of Switzerland
For many alpine areas in Switzerland, winter tourism is the most important source of income, and snow-reliability is one of the key elements of the offers made by tourism in the Alps. 85% of Switzerland's current ski resorts can be designated as snow-reliable. If climate change occurs, the level of snow-reliability will rise from 1200 m up to 1800 m over the next few decades. Only 44% of the sk...
